Food has been a central pull in my family, having meals and snacks together as a way to spend quality time, away from our constant work travels and busy schedules. I always tell my children to never play with their food, but now I did just the opposite. Togetherness, the collective pieces in this series, when combined together, just like a family in the dining table, creates a special bond that is a celebrated experience of harmony, close relationship, and a familiar culture. This still life series, based on the sixteenth century Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo's works, is an irreverent play on food. It underscores the important role of food in my family. The materials used are some of my family favorites like bread, cereal, cheese, salumi, and pasta.
