On the day the photograph was taken,I purposely took my camera with me,intending to scout interesting shots,knowing the street I'd be passing through has some interesting details.Quite by chance and with utter wonder,i noticed a mannequin arm/hand waving from a window of an apartment building.Plants could also bee seen in the interior so the place must have been occupied by tenants with a pulse as well,not just this immortal anthropomorphic entity.I was reminded of the use of mannequins in Italian giallo films and also general art direction in Polanski's Repulsion,which is why I chose to produce the photo in black and white.I find the image to be alluring and inviting,and not just for literal reasons.My cynical imagination sees noir undertones in this,but perhaps this prop is just a quirky person's way to greet passengers.
