Irma - The New Normal

Six months after the catastrophic hurricane Irma slammed into Sint Maarten, the long road to recovery is starting to bear fruit. Nevertheless signs of destruction and chaos are still visible throughout the entire island, impacting the daily lives of the islanders. Cecile Lubrani, French artist and first hand witness of the force that ripped the island apart on September 6th, 2017, joined Los Angeles based artist Maria Loewenstein on an artistic endeavor to showcase the severity of the devastation that will still be visible years to come. Together, they captured everyday activities with backdrops commonly only seen in movies, calling it The New Normal.
