20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Isleta Off the Shore of Playa Cocles
This small island is just offshore of Cocles Beach, south of Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica on the Caribbean coast. The beach is popular for surfing and hanging out - but the island is bit too far for casual adventurers and so is mostly a home for local birds.
