Japanese White-eye (mejiro) grabbing a bite to eat
The Japanese White-eye (mejiro), introduced to Hawaii in 1929 in order to control bugs in agricultural lands and gardens, is shown catching a bug at Kawainui Marsh, Oahu. Today the mejiro poses a problem as it leaves native bird species with too little to eat in areas where it flourishes.
