17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Jean Dubuffet's "Group of Four Trees"

Jean Dubuffet's "Group of Four Trees" is a public sculpture at One Chase Plaza in New York City. Commissioned by David Rockefeller in 1969, Dubuffet actually called it not a sculpture but a drawing that had come off the page. It speaks to a time when wealthy individuals contributed to the American Experience with art, architecture, and even the creation of vast national parks.
