As someone born and raised in NYC, I have been taking the subway since age 13. While there are many things out of the ordinary on the NYC subway system, you learn to adjust and things become mundane. But even in the mundane, there is beauty. There is nothing more average, nothing more quintessentially American, than white shoes, white jeans, and taking subway.
