Jingle Dress Dancer

Captured at the Red Earth Festival in Oklahoma City. The Jingle Dress dance is known as a healing dance amongst the Native Americans. Dancers can be called upon to dance for sick or injured community members. The single rolls of jingle cones are made from rolling metal snuff can lids. The fan in her right hand is held high during the honor beats from the drum. The number on her left arm signifies she is part of the dance competition held annually at the festival.
