On the 15th day of the first lunar month, the whole village will light a bonfire outside the main gate or by the roadside and jump over the fire dun to symbolise the removal of bad luck and the coming year's good weather and rain! The fire is a symbol of good luck and a good harvest! It is also a rite of passage for young people.
