22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
A couple of photos

Just before 9PM, driving somewhere in Troms region, Norway and she starts dancing in green. I slow down the car and start to scout the coast to find a passage through the trees before the slope. A small bay covered in snow, bathed by the calm fjord waters with a great cabin for holidays. The Aurora borealis releases the pink and intensifies the spectacle, I run as fast as I can through frozen rocks, stones and sand trying to find the best place for a reflection in the fjord. The Aurora turns into this double arc ultra-intense with ribbons of pink swaying like serpents on the left. It was now, even if I was not in the best spot. The solar winds were so strong and the arcs stood for so long that I could shoot 20 photos to create the full puzzle of this image! It was huge, it misses the part in the back of my head! The battery died, I didn’t have my backpack, odd but I just stopped for a couple of photos, never suspecting the intensity of what was going to happen! Luckily, it was enough battery time to document this massive solar storm.
