My practice seeks to explore the fundamental features of photography as a medium. While the moments captured by a camera are fleeting, the resulting images can last forever. Objects in a photograph can be transformed to any size, and all 3D objects are flattened. However, it is easy to think that because a photograph seems to show everything so realistically, it is showing some sort of truth. Therefore, attitudes towards photography are different to conventional readings of painting, sculpture and other mediums. For me, these ambivalent aspects of photography are what makes it so interesting. The main elements in my artistic practice - photography and installation - work like this. I explore the local area, taking pictures of scenery and collecting found objects. In my studio, I match photograph-to-object, printing the photographs in various sizes in order to match them to the object. Therefore, my work has two layers - inside the photo and outside the photo.
