Just Luck
I was so disappointed that we didn't see any bears in Valdez (when I visited before the salmon run was still on and there were several bears). As we were driving out of the area, I caught just a glimpse of this sow Brown Bear and her 3 year old cub in a creek bottom. I took this shot standing on a bridge guard rail post with an 840mm lens at only 1/50 of a second shutter speed... handheld. I know that you know that I'm not all that skilled so I guess we will chalk this image up to just luck. Alaska Brown Bear, by the Lowe River near Valdez, Alaska.
