Keeping Cool, Khiva, Uzbekisyan

Khiva, an ancient walled city Uzbekistan is an oasis in the middle of a desert and it gets extremely hot there in summer. While it looks like the lady is throwing out her dishwater, or washing the street, she is actually wetting the pavement. The low humidity and high temperature cause the water to evaporate, thus cooling the surrounding air to make living more comfortable.
