Kentish Plover
The Kentish Plover is a small bird (+/-15 cm) that lives on the beach. Kentish Plovers look for food in the sea washed up on beaches. They mainly eat snails, small worms and insects they collect by runnning up and down. In Europe the Kentish Plover is on the list of endangered species. The main reason for the decrease in numbers is the increased traffic on the beaches that traditionally form the breeding grounds of the species.
