13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Key Largo Iguana

A sustainable travel project to me, looks like everyone doing their part and treating the environment responsibly. I appreciate every aspect of the natural world. Wildlife is my favorite thing to shoot with my camera. It is important to me to observe but not disturb the wildlife. It is also important not to let invasive species loose in habitats where they do not originate, such as southern Florida where this photo was taken. In many places, the iguana is considered and invasive species. I was walking along the water and saw this iguana climb out of the tree at my hotel in Key Largo, FL.
