KING’S PERSPECTIVE

Thailand was never a European colony, so even though the city is very Western on the surface, deep down it's very Asian. It's quite enigmatic, and I like that. I can't get to the bottom of Bangkok, and I never will. In Thailand's history there have been dissensions from time to time, but in general, unity has prevailed. It is a showcase of one of the most significant examples of contemporary architecture and urban design in all of Thailand. Bangkok, with its contrasting mix of traditional temples and modern skyscrapers, has developed an eclectic skyline and the Mahanakhon Building fits right in.
