23rd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Wildlife
King’s Promenade

After a long rest hidden in the dense underbrush of Kanha National Park, India, this Bengal tiger finally emerged just as a patrolling elephant passed nearby. With quiet confidence, it stepped onto the very path I had been watching, giving me a rare and unobstructed view. From a low angle, I captured its steady, powerful stride and intense gaze—an unforgettable moment that revealed both the tiger’s majestic presence and the raw beauty of the wild.
