14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Lady
The beautiful and curious Lady, the resident fox of Camp Island on the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. While working on brown bear habitat management and resource monitoring on the refuge, I was fortunate enough to have close interactions with a variety of animals. Lady is by far the most charismatic individual I interacted with this summer. On this particular day, she was very interested in my camera. Looking into her eyes transports me to another place.
