19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Lady Zia
Do you see her? A moment of pure luck that lasted only a few minutes! I decided to look up and saw this shadow form into a woman with flowing hair. A fleeting moment that no one else can capture. A photograph dedicated to all the female artists that inspire me daily. Female visions helped me see the world differently. Without their vision I would have no vision myself. "Zia" is the sun symbol from the Pueblo tribe based in New Mexico, which is also used as the state flag. I'm a proud Spanish, Native American mix. I wanted to show some representation for my heritage with the naming of this photograph. Photograph taken in my home state, New Mexico.
