19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Lament 8, part of a series
The image is of dead flowers that were left behind and never received by its recipient. It is about an event which never happened, but contain the promise of its potentiality. The dead flowers were beautiful before, but now in their new dried up and forgotten moment, take on a new form of beauty. The painterly marks and written marks offer a subjective force to the image and juxtapose the fragile with the force of subjective inscription.
