Last Eagle Hunters

There are an estimated 250 eagle hunters remaining in Bayan-Ölgii, which is located in the Altai Mountains of western Mongolian. They maintained ancient practice of hunting with golden eagles on horseback, and they primarily hunt red foxes and corsac foxes. The hunting provides very little in the way of food for human consumption, but it is a tradition dating back 4,000 years and the fur hats and the eagles themselves are a matter of great pride amongst Kazakhs
