Last Jews of Bukhara
Once a thriving community of more than 25,000, the Bukhara Jews played a major part in the trade of the city. Today only around 300 Jews remain in Bukhara with most having emigrated either to the United States or Israel. Here an elderly native plays a game of Backgammon with his friend at the 17th century synagogue.
