Last one standing

This photo was taken at Nauset beach, Cape Cod on Sept. 19, 2021. It shows a tree losing it's fight against coastal erosion. Apparently it survived for a long time and grew to this size. It reminds me of the collapse of the 1903 transatlantic wireless structure at Marconi beach nearby due to the same cause. Like a monument, it makes us wonder how proud it was standing at this front line.
