20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Late afternoon at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park.
The low angle of the sun lighting the dunes made them look a lot like ocean waves. I cropped the image into a panorama format to emphasize the resemblance. A conversion to black and white completed my visualization of the scene.
