Laundry

Dhobi Ghat is an open-air laundromat featuring row upon row of concrete washing pens, each outfitted with a flogging stone to wash the clothes from hospitals and Hotels. After the clothes have been washed, they are hung up to dry above the washing area. From the interstate, you can see all of the clean clothes flapping in the wind over Dhobi Ghat in an Ocean of colors. The clothes are washed by a group of people who call themselves the Dhobi. Dhobi comes from the Hindu word dhona, which means to wash.
