Lawn Ornament

When I first moved to Florida, I would see tall, white birds in people's yards. My mother had been living here for over 10 years, and I insisted that these white birds were lawn ornaments. One day she said, quite calmly, "Your lawn ornament just flew away." Great White Egrets stand so still for so long. This one, who was in the common area of my condominium, was having lunch at that moment. That was the day I found out who was eating my beloved lizards.
