Le petit Caffe

Ljubljana has a nice culture of drinking coffee. There are quite a few nice cafes in Ljubljana. It is nice that Slovenia does not have coffe shop companies with their "fast food" style of coffee because they might ruin the coffee drinking culture. In Ljubljana "going for a coffee" can mean everything but that. It means going for a drink, often a beer, and having relaxed conversation. We even have a word that describes all that - "kofetkanje". I wanted to take a short study of society true cafes. I found out that sometimes people go into cafes not to socialize, but just the opposite, to take a break for a while, but not in a negative way. In the past people came in cafes also to get news of what is going on in town and in the country. There is still some spirit of this, because people still like to read newspapers and check the news on their laptops in cafes. While doing this project I realized a few facts. It was interesting for me, that cafes are quite full although there is a time of recesion. It is true that if you look at shopping centres in Slovenia, you also cannot get any feeling of recesion but in case of cafes this is a also a statistical fact. This shows that drinking coffee is part of our culture which we won't give away so easily.
