23rd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Wildlife
Leap through the Jungle
In the canopy of the Ecuadorian jungle, a pair of Miller’s sakis moves from tree to tree with remarkable agility. This rare monkey species, found in the northwestern Amazon, is seldom seen in the wild. The photo captures a fleeting midair moment - a symbol of freedom and life in one of the world’s last untouched ecosystems.
