Lilac Blooms

Every year, at the end of May, the lilac bushes behind our house (and throughout the town) erupt with beautiful purple flowers that smell heavenly! This year, the lilacs bloomed the day before a large snowstorm was predicted, so I spent the day photographing them in all different light before they were killed by the frost. In the end, they managed to survive the snow, but the post-snow blooms were more haggard-looking and worn-out (although they still smelled wonderful).
