On Sunday November 22, 2015 I met with 90-year-old Linda Baumann of Oceanside New York. She was my first subject for my series entitled Golden Years, whom I had no personal connection to. I got in contact with Linda through my mother, who is her nurse. I was nervous meeting her for the first time because I knew I had to make a good first impression, ensuring that Linda would feel comfortable to allow me back into her home. Having no idea the type of environment I was walking into meant that I would not be able to premeditate my photographs. Immediately walking into her home I notice her love of the color pink, pearls, and lace. Her home is very feminine and sweet. Linda is a very tiny soft-spoken woman. I felt it was more appropriate to get to know Linda without my camera in hand, so during this first encounter I spent more time getting to know Linda, than photographing her home.
