Lisbon by the River
This is one of my favourite places and monuments in Lisbon. It is located in Belem, by the Tagus river just before it opens up to the Atlantic Ocean. It is a monument built to celebrate the achievements of portuguese explorers during the Age of Discoveries and the creation of Portugal’s empire. Its shape resembles a caravel and it carries several of the most important figures in Portuguese Discoveries history. The leading man is Henry the Navigator.
