Little Rhino and Mama
While on a research drive we stopped to watch this mama rhino nursing its calf. I was so taken by the gentleness and grace of the massive creature with its young, the way she rubbed her nose to it as a sign of affection and sociability. Rhinos rub horns as a form of greeting and socializing and she was teaching this to her young one. Once the calf was finished nursing he approached our vehicle, taking care not to stray too far from its mother. The mother was cautious of us but allowed the calf to explore.
