12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Logan Pass, Glacier National Park

About midway through the park along the Going to the Sun Road you end up at Logan Pass. This is a very popular destination for tourists as it has a nice, large parking lot and some trails you can hike on if you so desire. This photo was taken hand-held as there wasn't really any room to setup the tripod. Even in the middle of summer there was still plenty of snow on the ground. But then, you are thousands of feet above sea level as well.
