Lonely View From the Rock-Hewn Churches Above Tigray

An Ethiopian Orthodox priest looks out over the Tigray region from the ledge of his stone-hewn church. Churches have been carved into the mountains across Tigray, some forgotten, and others still maintained by priests who often do not descend from their mountains but are taken care of by faithful congregants who bring them food and other necessities.
