19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
LoneTree

The tree stands lone, bold with its head high. It aims for the sky and will stop at nothing less, even if it means taking a leap of faith off the side of the hill. Standing alone has definitions beyond the comprehendible toady. Right from being called a lone wolf to the follower of social distancing, being confident on your own has now gained the power of positivity over time and is now a symbol of strength rather than loneliness. The word lone has now gained a new meaning in the moment of the new normal; Lone is no longer alone.
