Longyearbyen by Night
Aurora borealis or northern lights is one of the exciting things about visiting the polar region during the polar night. Usually the lights of the city of Longyearbyen is too bright to be able to properly enjoy the phenomena. Sometimes however the nothern lights are strong enough to compete with the man made light sources. This was one of the occasions. In the foreground of the photo the central part of the town of Longyearbyen can be seen.
