Looking Down at Machu Picchu Citadel, the Peaks and the Urubamba River

Macchu Pichu's 15th century ruins sit on 25 acres (the “citadel”) at about 7,700 feet on a saddle ridge that is 160 and 1,000 feet below the sharp peaks of Huchuy Picchu and Huayana Picchu, respectively. The citadel is about 1,500 feet above the winding Urubamba River.
