Looking into Mother Earth

We took paddleboards to Isla de Vila Franca do Campo, a tiny islet off the coast of Sáo Miguel Island in the Azores. It has a volcanic cone with a 150 meter crater that is nearly a perfect circle. We paddled inside the crater's azure blue waters and snorkeled around the outer reefs along its edges. Later, when I flew a drone over the islet, the crater reminded me of a tiny version of the earth from space.
