I love loons and am fortunate to be able to photograph them on a small lake in northwest Maine, most of the summer. My husband's family has had a small cottage on that pond for close to 100 years now and we share it with 6 other family members. The loons return every year, have chicks some years, other times not. They are amazing, beautiful and mysterious creatures. II go out early in my kayak and sometimes they come to me, other times, I find them. I feel a real connection to them.
