Lost History

Did you know that there are more pyramids, albeit smaller in size, in Sudan than there are in Egypt? The Nubians of Sudan once ruled Egypt for about 100 years as the black pharaohs. They, like the ancient Egyptians, also constructed numerous pyramids and worshipped the Egyptian gods. There remains a small cluster of Nubian pyramids at the foot of the holy mountain Jebel Barkal. I sat on top of the mountain mesmerized by the dreamy feel of this small group of pyramids floating in the sea of sand as the sky turned hazy orange.
