This is a photograph I took in refugee camp 2 at the Thai-Burma border. I was filming with nonprofit WEAVE Fairtrade for my exhibit, The Art of Resilience, and I was fortunate enough to film in camp 1 and 2 with Karen and Karenni refugee artisans. When I came upon this bridge, I felt as if I were traveling back through time. Seems as though decades of conflict at the border have paralyzed any evolution of these refugee camps. I felt caught in the middle of past and present, and to me, this bridge metaphorically connects the two.
