18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
“Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon.”
In the book, “The Lottery” a human sacrifice was supposed to ensure that the corn would be good that year. Obviously a satire on following anyone, or any group blindly with no regard for the consequences or empathy for the victim.
