17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Louisa Schmolke
Captured in the characteristic style of photographer Lucien Hervé, the photograph as part of a series of images invite the viewer to consider each abstract, close cropped, high contrasted single image as a puzzle piece that comprises the aura of the architecture. This photograph could aid in a greater understanding of the architecture than a single, wide angled photograph could. Each image focuses on the detail, form, texture and light, arguably resulting in a more holistic understanding of what the spaces actually feel like.
