Low tide, high tensions

The relationship between humans and wildlife fascinates me. In San Diego, this relationship is fraught with tension. At a popular tourist spot, a colony of sea lions must contend with regular human contact. The humans who visit the beach are fascinated by the sea lions and frequently come within inches of the animals to take “selfies with the sea lions” as they haul out on the shore. This female sea lion was resting on a rock when a man approached her with his phone; he got so close that she roared in discomfort.
