Lunar halo, Pennsylvania

A nearly full moon surrounded by a halo sets in the pre-dawn sky near Shippensburg, PA. The optical phenomena is formed by moonlight refracting through hexagonal ice crystals high in the atmosphere resulting in a circle with a radius of approximately 22 degrees.
