Lunch Time

Female Ruby-Throat Hummingbird heading for a quick meal at the feeder. In July last year I began a new interest in photography. A few months later my focus began on birds and nature subjects. adding bird feeders with seeds and nuts and berries to attract a variety of species to my yard. Since, my yard has become somewhat of a bird sanctuary, bustling with song and flight of many species of birds. As Spring approached I longed to attract new subjects and added flowers to the landscape and a hummingbird feeder in March in an attempt to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. I am very happy to say it was a success! I have had a number of hummingbirds visit my feeder and over the last few days I have noticed a significant increase in their numbers. These magnificent tiny birds buzz in and out and will even hover in front of you from time to time. They are absolutely fascinating to watch. I will be adding another feeder soon to accommodate the increase in their numbers. What fun and smart birds they are not to mention beautiful!
