Lunch time for an Australian jewel beetle
On extremely hot days in Western Australian summer, these beetles are out feeding on Eucalyptus flowers. Some years, a tree will be covered up to 20 different species of jewel beetles at once. Unfortunately, this beautiful sight may only last for a week or two because the adult stage of the jewel beetle life cycle is very short.
