17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
magical cradle

The photo was taken last summer at Fort Bragg, CA. I was visiting the glass beach and hoping to get some nice shots of the multicolored glass. When I arrived, there was a big crowd, and the sand wasn't as nice as I expected. I was quite disappointed, so I just decided to enjoy the beach and walk for a bit. Then I looked in this puddle. I was so shocked to see these wonderful colors and textures. By looking in it I was able explore an entire universe containing so much variations and incredible patterns. I totally forget my deception and people surrounding me and simply stared at this beauty. I knew this would be an amazing shot, so I took my time, click photos and enjoyed watching diverse forms of life moving in this picture. It’s a great reminder that beauty can be present everywhere and to simply enjoy things for what they are.
