Malachite Beetle, Malachius bipustulatus, Dark green beetle with elongate narrow body. Eyltra are covered with coarse hairs which are visible. Both sexes have large brilliant-red eversible sacs, called cocardes, along the ventral surface of the thorax and abdomen that emit defence odours.Size: 5.5-6.0mm Larvae are highly pedatory, consuming small isnects and eggs as well as slugs.
