For this image I borrowed composition from Girl With A Pearl Earring by Jan Vermeer. However, for the model I decided to use my own mother. Girl With a Pearl Earring is shrouded in mystery as to her identity. I believe this is true for the identity of mothers as well. Many mothers, including my own, have somewhat given up their personal identity and their own hopes and dreams for their families. Their wants and needs are somewhat mysterious and kept out of sight for the betterment of their children and spouses.
